Running after God Link-up #1 !

Last week, I promised that I am introducing a new blog link-up right here on A Chosen Remnant ! And I am so glad that it is finally here !

I just have 3 rules I would like you to keep in mind as you link up.

  1. You are welcome to link-up as many posts as you want to on any topic that encourages and strengthens our walk with the Lord Jesus Christ.
  2. Please don't link up and run away. Read at least one blog post and leave the owner a comment. It will take you maybe 15 minutes and you could gain a friend for life !
  3. This one is not a rule at all. It's more of a request from me : I would be honored if you follow me on Facebook, Google+ or sign up for my e-mail list (two gifts await you if you do sign up to my e-mail list).
Alright ! Here we go. Link-up party mode activated !

How to balance the call of God on your life with a husband & kids : An Interview with Rosilind Jukic

One of the things I enjoy about blogging is the opportunity I have to meet other amazing bloggers and women of God.

A few weeks ago, I sat down with Rosilind Jukic, an American missionary to Croatia and the writer behind A Little R and R blog and the Missional Call, and we chatted about a host of things.

In this podcast, Rosilind and I talk about :

  1. The challenges of being a missionary
  2. What the call of God looked like in her life and practical pointers to what it might look like in yours
  3. What a modern-day missions ministry involves
  4. And last but not least her new book The Missional Handbook which comes out on May 5th (check it out at the Missional Call).
You will enjoy this podcast so much. Roz is such an amazing person with an equally amazing heart for the Lord !

Just play it from the blog by pressing the "PLAY" button below, download it or subscribe to the Running after God podcast in iTunes.

25 Scriptures to Pray Over Your Children E-book & 2 more announcements !

I've been busy these past few weeks and ready to restart and relaunch A Chosen Remnant with a fresh, bursting life !

First of all, I wanted you to know that I wrote an e-booklet called 25 Scriptures to Pray Over Your Children. It is absolutely free and I would love for you to download it here.

I've worked in Children's ministry since I was 18 years old and I truly love kid's ministry. I also believe that one of the greatest gifts we can give our children (whether biological or not) is the gift of prayer. Some of the scriptures I compiled in this e-book are ones that I have used myself as I pray for the children I teach at church and now for the rambunctious little boy God has blessed me with. I believe it will be an asset to you as you pull it out each day to pray them over your children. Once again, just click this link and download it for free.

The second announcement is that I have recently launched a podcast on iTunes ! There are currently 4 episodes listed on iTunes for the podcast. This is where I simply whip out my voice recorder and begin to chat about the Word and other amazing things. I already have had the opportunity to interview the wonderful Rosilind Jukic, a missionary in Croatia who has the sweetest heart I have encountered yet ! I also have had a chance to interview Ngina Otiende who simply loves to mentor women as they enter into marriage. Both of them are so inspiring.

All these interviews will be up on the podcast in the coming weeks and you can expect more insightful conversations with women (and sometimes men) who love the Lord and have the heart to mentor and encourage others to be all that God has called them to be. If you'd like to receive updates of the podcast everytime one is released, go ahead and enter your e-mail and I'll do just that (I HATE SPAM. So you can be sure I'll never spam you. (You'll also receive 2 surprises in your inbox once you sign up for podcast updates).

Last but not least, I will be starting a blog link-up party on this blog starting on Tuesday this week (April 22nd). It's my 31st birthday this week and I want to celebrate with a (hopefully) huge linky party starting tomorrow. If you'd like me to remind you tomorrow of the link-up, just enter your e-mail below and I'll do just that. (Remember those 2 surprises ? Yep, you'll get them immediately you sign up to receive notification for the blog link-up party.)

That was a lot of announcements now wasn't it ? Well, I am excited and looking forward to connecting with many of you over the long-term through this blog and through the podcast.

Before I go, I just have one more favor to ask. Could you subscribe to my podcast in iTunes or at least take a listen ? These would be excellent for when you're working out or just going around the house and you are looking for something encouraging to listen to.

It would bless my heart indeed. Okay, enough for one day ! God bless you and have an AMAZING Monday.

You're loved relentlessly by a powerful Savior.

Gertrude.

What to do when you feel unfulfilled

Today I'm posting a video about what you should do when you feel unfulfilled. For many people who've hit their 30's or even 40's, it's easy to look back and wonder if this is all life has to offer and wonder if you could have done better if the clock was wound back.

Well, we don't have the luxury of the clock winding back but we do have the blessing of looking to the future with faith ! Enjoy this video and let me know if you've experienced this.

It will take you less than 3 minutes to watch this.

Here are some Scriptures to meditate on :
  • Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 3:13-14

  • And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed. - Joel 2:25-26
Do you know someone who needs this video ? Go ahead and share it.
You are loved relentlessly by a powerful Savior !
Gertrude.

Until Help Comes, Help Someone Else

The best time to help someone who is hurting is when you are hurting yourself.

Okay, this isn’t exactly groundbreaking and I am definitely not suggesting that you go and find some problems just so that you can help someone else. However, in my life's experience, there is something powerful about going beyond yourself and looking beyond you own needs to minister healing, hope and help to somebody else.

Does the size of your calling matter ?

One thing I know is that it is VERY VERY easy for us to compare our callings and assume that one calling is better than the next. Of course, as I've matured as a believer, I have come to realize that the call is not as important as your faithfulness with which you respond to the call.

This morning I took just a little over a minute to share this on video. The video may sound a little muffled because my son was still asleep and I didn't want to wake him up ! Here we go :

God bless you!!

The Gift of God's Presence

I've battled feelings of loneliness and feeling alone in the past and the thing that set me free from that was when I began to acknowledge the presence of God in my life and embraced the Holy Spirit as my everything.

Am I "there" yet ? Nope ! I still have so much to learn but I felt like posting about how we as believers can practically practice living in the presence of the Holy Spirit every single day.
