Why the basics make you successful

A Chosen Remnant

Time and time again when I get to listen to interviews of people that are successful at what they do. One thing I consistently realize is that these people generally do not have extremely special abilites. Of course, they might have a natural inclination to succeed at sports or to be successful in business. There is no doubt about that. However, I have come to realize that the only thing that separates someone like Michael Jordan (a basketball legend) from the average person is the fact that the former has practised the basics over and over and over again. Amazing isn't it ?

Those who do well in life are those who do the basics best and constantly practice them. A daily reading of the Word and prayer will mold each one of us into well-refined vessels. Is there a believer in Jesus Christ you look up to or see as a role model ? That person has spent countless hours poring over and meditating on the Word of God and has invested time into personal prayer times with God.

Could you devote the first hour of each day to God simply in reading your Bible and praying ? If you don't have time, make time.

Dedicate the first hour of your day to God. You may be surprised to discover that the one hour you spend in fellowship with the Lord will be your richest all day. In the following days, I hope to cover practical aspects of having a daily time with God.
