When Being A Christian Becomes Boring

I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior when I was 8 years old. I have been in church and around Christian activities ever since.

In the past two or three years however, I have wanted more than just a "Sunday-religion". I wanted more than Jesus Christ being a "band-aid" I slap on whenever I am hurting. I wanted to real and deeper relationship with the One I had called my Lord and Savior since my childhood. And so I prayed. I prayed that I would hunger and thirst for righteousness.  I prayed that the Lord would grant me the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. I prayed that as He had promised in Joel 2:28, that in this day He would pour out His Spirit upon me.

The result : a walk more exciting with God than I could have ever imagined ! Oh Friends, we serve an awesome and powerful God and He wants more than anything to be close to us. Yes He is a God of judgement and He hates sin. But we focus on that part so much that most of us forget that He is also a loving Father who sometimes just wants to chat and fellowship with us. The Word of God has become so real to me. Portions of Scripture I did not understand just a few months ago are becoming more real and dear to me. And you know the best part ? Spending time in prayer just talking to Him is no longer a "yawn-fest". Prayer has actually become an exciting time when I get to tell my Father what's on my mind, what's bothering me, what I am excited about and so on.

Jeremiah 29:13 says :

Then you will seek Me, inquire for, and require Me[as a vital necessity] and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

I believe there is an inquiring of God's face that goes beyond the warm and fuzzy feelings we get from singing the worship hymns. This kind of inquiring is the kind where we are so desperate and require God as a vital necessity. It's the place where we recognize that we would rather die than live just one dday without His presence in our lives.

I made a vow a couple years ago to myself NEVER to live a boring Christian life. True Christianity is SO not boring (I mean parting the Red Sea, Manna from heaven, the sick getting healed and other moves of the Holy Spirit amongst the early believers definitely does not spell BORING to me !) . I am truly excited that not only do I get to walk with the Lord and fellowship with His Holy Spirit here on the earth but that this will continue in an even greater dimension in Heaven for eternity !

Maybe you are reading this and you've been a Christian for a long time but this life has become boring and uninteresting to you. Will you pray this prayer with me ?

Father God, I pray this in the Name of Jesus Christ. You said that you would fill those who hunger and thirst for righteousness(Matthew 5:6). Today I pray that you would stir up a hunger and a desire in me for You. I pray that from today, Your presence in my life will mean more to me than life itself. I pray for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so I can know you better (Ephesians 1:17). I pray that my life will burn for you like a blazing flame (Psalm 104:4). I thank you for doing this for me. Amen.
