Last year we lost a beautiful lady in our church to cancer. Although my husband knew her, I never had a chance to meet her because we belong to an international denomination with several branches on every continent. She faithfully co-pastored our branch in Connecticut alongside her husband.
Another person who knew her very well is my spiritual mom Mrs. Yvonne Fleischer She wrote this note on her facebook profile in January this year. I asked her permission to share this and I hope you are inspired and encouraged as I am.
Today, I walked straight to my bookshelf in our study and pulled out a card. This card was inconspicuously hidden between some piles of letters and books. The card was from my dear friend and Lady Pastor Lily. I reached out again and pulled out another card, it was also from her as well.
I never knew those cards were there. This is because I usually do not keep cards. Not that I do not like them, but the truth is we receive lots of them should we keep them our house will be totally cluttered with cards.
I cried as I read those cards. Because 2 days after my birthday and 2 days to hers, we had to say goodbye on this side of life.
But suddenly, as part of the Cloud of Witnesses, I could hear her say:
Come on, keep running. We have a lot to accomplish and time is short. Time will delay no longer. Do not waste time on useless things, it is not the season for such.
Run the race that is set before you, come on, run, run, run.
Wow, I could just feel and sense she spurring me on.
I wiped my tears and I received fresh strength.
Thanks again my dear friend you really are a Champion. I need to finish strong and hard too. So that I can hear those words too....."WELL DONE THOU GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT".
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us - Hebrews 12:1

No fair, Gertrude. You made me cry. But I'm lacing up my running shoes to take my place in the race. Meet you at the finish line . . .

This was beautiful. If I understood correctly, her friends just left cards for her to one day discover? That is a wonderful thought.
Visiting from TALU
Hi Kenya ! Thank for stopping by from TALU. Actually her friend had sent her the card but I believe she had not thrown it away just like the others. And it turned out to be a blessing that she did not throw them away.
Have a beautiful day.
