Jesus was Amazed at Their Unbelief

He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. He was amazed at their lack of faith. - Mark 6:5-6

Does Jesus get amazed at our lack of faith? I am sure He does because the Bible says there was a time when Jesus was amazed that His own people did not believe in Him. In fact, it says right there that He "could not do any miracles there" ! I know it beats the belief that God can do whatever He wishes (which He can) but if we do not believe in Him to do it, why would He ? Even us mere humans, we would not do things for people who do not have an inkling of faith in us.

The question I tend to ask myself constantly is this : do I have faith in God to take care of me and meet my needs or do I have faith in my abilities and knowledge and I simply slap God on there like lettuce on a sandwich to make it seem as if I am really trusting in Him ?

How many miracles have I missed because I have walked in unbelief ? Have I become so familiar with the power of God that I longer regard it ?

Does God sometimes watch and wonder why we are running around in crazy circles when all we need to do is take Him at His Word ? And yet sometimes, in spite of and not because of our faith or the lack thereof, He performs miracles. How about believing that He will perform the miracle to begin with ?

My Prayer Today
Father in Heaven, deliver me from unbelief in the Name of Jesus Christ. Strengthen me by your Spirit that I will never take your power and presence in my life for granted. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

God, please help my unbelief. Thanks for keeping it real in this post. Sometimes we can also get stuck on the fact that God can do it for others except us. God can do anything for us His children, the question is do we believe? God, I choose to believe!

Absolutely Funmi ! I was reading this Scripture earlier today and I could see very clearly that I have walked in unbelief in MANY areas of my life. God is helping us though !

If only we could take our eyes off our world and on to Him... Thanks for sharing sis, have a super blessed day!

Also, Jesus could not do any miracles there was because of the people's familiarity with Him. In the next verse Jesus said "A prophet is not accepted in His hometown". Sometimes people cannot receive miracles from friends and family because of their familiarity.

Ouch....but so true to life. I never thought that maybe truthfully i was relying on what i can do instead of REALLY trusting in what God can do. Good thing to think about!
