Serving God in My Generation

For David, after he had served God’s will and purpose and counsel in his own generation, fell asleep [ in death] and was buried among his forefathers... - Acts 13:36

Dwight L. Moody once said, "I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And that which I can do, by the grace of God, I will do."

I am simply amazed that September is here already ! What's even amazing is that it has been 11 years since the terrible day when as a teenager I watched in horror as the second plane hit the World Trade Center. It almost seemed as if I was watching an action movie but it was painfully true. 11 years have come and gone. A whole decade and then some.

Today I find myself asking : what have I done in that one decade and how much of it has really served God's will and purpose ? If there is anything September 11, 2001 (and every day since then when I have heard of any other type of tragedy) has taught me,  it is that tomorrow is never guaranteed and that whatever work God has me doing now I have to execute it excellently to the glory of God. Oh, He is not looking for perfectionists. He is simply looking for people who will obey and execute His will and His purpose with enthusiasm and joy.

Prayer:
Father give me a deepened passion for Your Name and Your purpose today. Holy Spirit help me to serve You in my generation until my days on earth are done. For Lord, all I seek is to hear those sweet words ,"Good and faithful servant, come now into My rest. Thank You. In Jesus Name, Amen.
