My husband was sharing something this evening during a church prayer meeting (I really thank God for giving me such a godly man !) and I in turn wanted to share it on here.
A lot of people answer "He's my Lord and Savior". But what does it mean to have Jesus as your Lord and Savior ? What does it mean to be a Christian ? I am asking myself a question today : what does Jesus mean to me ?
When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”
They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. - Matthew 16:13-17
Jesus wanted to know if His own disciples knew who he was. Is it possible that many of us are in church every Sunday, sing in the choir, help out with Sunday School, even assist the pastor and yet do not know who Jesus Christ really is or what He means to us personally ?
Peter got the answer right though and Jesus told him that He knew this because God the Father had revealed it to him. Do we allow the Holy Spirit to reveal God to us or do we simply go through many of the "Christian motions" ?
I decided to be done with "Christian motions" a long time ago and my, has it been an adventure ! Is the Holy Spirit drawing you to come closer today and really know Jesus in a way that will excite you beyond measure ? He very well is.

I remember the day I told God that I wanted Him to be my Master; the controller of my life. I didn't realize it then, but that moment changed my life. That day, I realized that before I did anything I needed to hear God's approval. It was surreal. That decision that day, has helped me to see my relationship with God in a whole new light. God wants to be the center, the focus of every single detail of my life and not just what I think is important.
You are right Funmi, when we give our all to obey God and to really know Him He really does show Himself. I just wish we would be more willing to "wait" on Him instead of just doing things He has not even asked us to do.
God bless you !
Great post! I love that we are able to have a personal relationship with Jesus and that He wants to have a personal relationship with us. :)
Visiting from Tracy's blog hop, Winsome Wednesday.
it's very possible to attend church (although I attend on Saturdays) and not know Jesus. I was one of them. I knew all about Him and loved Him...or so I thought. ..until the day that I met the Saviour and as the song goes...now my life is no longer the same!!
Oh Tonya, trust me, I got saved when I was 8 years old but I've had my share of going through the motions. I always praise God for my salvation and for directing my life in the way He has.
When people see me, they don't have to see Gertrude ; they have to see Jesus.
Thanks for stopping by ! Hope you had a good day today.
Jesus to me is: my father, savior and redeemer. He healed me when I was at my lowest and restored my soul. He lets me know that, all is not over, it's just beginning. He reminds me everyday of how free I am. I am not a captive to my sinful nature. I had the right to resists the devil and cling to the blessed Holy Spirit.
Jesus died on the cross for me; all my guilt and records of wrongs were nailed to the cross with Him. If not for Jesus, I wouldn't be this far in my life today. I also thank God for the marvelous plans He has for my life, in the future! :)
Jesus is my Saviour, deliverer, Master, Lord, King and Friend...He is my everything. Without Him I am nothing, I live to please Him while looking forward to eternity with Him.
Great reminder sis!
Have a super blessed day!
Love
